Africa's 1st Safari

We took Africa to a little town called Prescott where the weather is lovely and she could experience several new things.

Africa's first road trip

Africa's first DOG PARK

This was my favorite part of her trip. She loved meeting other dogs!

Africa's first Cowboys!

I'm not sure which group was in the wrong century, but Africa didn't mind meeting all sorts of people. She was a big hit.

Africa's first thunder

Africa's first lake

She loved our little walk around the lake and had a moment of joy with nature. See video below.

Out of Africa

When Africa came upon this particular grass she freaked out. It was almost as if she was back in her native land. You can hear the thunder in the background which added to her drama.

The evidence doesn't lie.....

...you have been up to no good! Dirt on the nose?

Oh thank you for digging up around our sprinkler head. We just bought a foreclosed home and are trying to get it back in shape. We sure appreciate your help in digging up the new lawn.

I suppose you are not aware that you have a piece of paper hanging from your lovely lips. I sure hope that is not the important credit card information I left on the table.

Oh bonus! You dragged it outside to devour it. A muddy torn up document is always better than your usual dry shreds you leave around the house. I think I will go clean that up while you chew on your squeaky toy outside the baby's room during his nap. We sure do love you though!

On a happy note, when I am smart enough to observe her daily chores more closely, the "leave it" and "drop it" command work beautifully. They are starting to pay off. I love that when I do catch her with something terrible in her mouth I can say "drop it" and she immediately gets it out of her mouth. It is best when I use the "leave it" command meaning I catch her before the dirty deed and we avoid the above disasters. What is that saying ? "there are no bad horses, just lousy riders"...something like that. I will get better dearest Africa.

MUST LOVE DOGS!!

My mother hates dogs! Maybe hate is a strong word, but she definitely isn't a fan . She for sure doesn't think they should be in the house. They are dirty, slobbery, and heaven forbid they might have accidents! I'm with her on the accidents! However, since my son was born I will give her credit for tolerating Africa as much as she can. Instead of avoiding my house like she would like to, she decided to make due in order to hang out with her grandson. She simply requested that her guest room be a dog free zone. That was easy enough! Africa gets to roam the entire house. One room to be off limits was an easy wish to grant. Africa is now 4 months old and has been accident free for 2 months now. .....until this weekend. I guess she can sniff out a dog hater and attempted to love her into submission or hate her right back. Africa would sweetly follow my mom around trying to sleep on her feet and rest her head on her lap all day long. Unfortunately it didn't work. So what did she do? While my Mother and I were busy putting my Son's room together Africa somehow got in the forbidden room and scattered and destroyed my mother's makeup and peed the biggest amount of pee ever on her floor. It was discovered when my mom went to her room to get something . I heard "Oh my!" "Oh my!" over and over again. I knew what that meant. The worst thing that could happen, happened. I guess the moral of the story is you must love dogs !

Africa the lioness

What has Africa been up to?
Well, funny you should ask! Just yesterday this darling little thing came inside slightly bloody because apparently she had devoured a pigeon. I of course freaked out and was concerned as to what had happened. I found the following mess outside. That was super fun, especially the trip to the vet to make sure it wasn't a poisoned dead pigeon that would kill Africa upon consuming. I had crazy dog on the leash in one hand, son in baby carrier on the other, plus a lovely bag of dog puke (just in case they needed that) in my third hand.....wait I don't have a third hand. Know where I can get a third hand? Anyways, it was quite a sight I am sure. The good thing is Africa is fine. I, however, am still recovering.

How To Properly Hug a Baby

I in no way take credit for this post. This was an email that I loved and I believe the author is www.longfam.net/ Victor Long. I don't think I would appreciate my Africa hugging my son, as sweet as this is.

Instructions for properly hugging a baby:
1. First, uh, find a baby.

2. Second, be sure that the object you found was
indeed a baby by employing classic sniffing techniques.

3. Next you will need to flatten the baby before actually beginning the
hugging process.

. The 'paw slide'

4. Simply slide paws around baby and prepare for possible close-up.

5. Finally, if a camera is present, you will need to execute
the difficult and patented 'hug, smile, and lean' so as to
achieve the best photo quality.
